Prints well once set up correctly
Love it! It’s exact what I needed. The only problem is the round printer paper has a hole in the middle but otherwise excellent label printer

Let down by some bewildering design choices
Always been a big Brother fan but this one is a bit of a let down. It works well... once you've faffed about with settings in the dated software, restarted the printer and computer multiple times, and then got the software configuration and paper size exactly how it needs to be. Hardware wise, it feels robust. But two oddities: firstly, there seems to be a problem with grounding somewhere - when the USB cable touches against the shield of the USB-B port, it causes all the other USB ports on my computer to malfunction and my monitor flickers. I have replicated this on multiple computers. But once it is plugged in fully it behaves itself. Not too much of a problem for me as I am using it on WLAN. The second, quite niggly annoyance is that the output tray points downwards - so any labels it auto-cuts are immediately spat out onto the desk or floor. The print quality is good, though, and the cutting action is very smooth. The software is a bit more challenging. By far the most bewildering design decision on this printer is that if the print job doesn't perfectly fit the margins of the label, it sits there flashing a red LED and DELETES THE PRINT JOB. Unlike industrial-grade printers like the Zebra GX430t - or really any printer at all - it doesn't even attempt to try and print the label. This wouldn't be so grating if there weren't a million paper and margin settings in both the apps and in printer preferences. Printing things from PDFs or Office apps, for example, can be a real challenge, and I've yet to get it to print anything by setting scaling to fit on one page. Which means the easiest way, unfortunately, is to use Brother's P-Touch software - note that printers like the GX430t, by comparison, don't need a third-party app and work natively. P-Touch looks and feels about 20 years old and does not scale properly in Windows 11 so the interface is horribly blurry on every computer I have tested it on. There's a lite version - which seems to be unable to rotate the page so is basically useless - and which has a corresponding 'Editor Lite' physical button on the printer. I still have no idea what this is supposed to do. Now that I've got it running, configured the network and configured the software, it works OK for our casual use of labelling random things round the house. But I struggle to recommend this for high-volume use because I fail to see how it will integrate into printing postage labels from online platforms, for example, beyond sitting there flashing a red light at you because it's incapable of scaling. If you are intending to print high volumes I would suggest spending a bit extra on something like a Zebra.

Value for money and quality
I am pretty happy with the product. Also, it's very easy to install and use, especially since the software is very user-friendly. Printing quality is very good.
